Delius, whoever he is

Gritten, Anthony (2016) Delius, whoever he is. The Delius Society Journal, 160. pp. 61-73. ISSN 0306-0373

Abstract

This essay seeks to situate Delius' Dance for Harpsichord within the evolving contexts of Euro-Modernism and the emergent Neoclassicism, antiquarianism and the historical performance movement, English musical culture, and English literary-philosophical thought in the first decade or so of the twentieth century. Comparisons are made between the early literature on Delius (Heseltine in particular) and writings by Dyson and Clutton-Brock.
